Seperate user accounts

I'm new to having more than one user account on my computer. I'm still the only one using it (for the most part), but I wanted to set up a limited account for my daily use.

This new account doesn't have any of my settings, favorites, etc. It even pops up the little thing at the bottomr right saying "take a tour of Windows XP".

How do I practically make this account identical to my administrative account (within the limits obviously)?

The easiest way to do it is to just make a copy of the contents of the desktop, favorites, and start folders found in the Documents and Settings folder. Assuming you already logged in as the other user, just go there and copy the contents to the same three folders and you should have the most common things back.

The rest you should be able to re-create pretty easily, application settings, passwords, etc. I do this all the time when I reformat and want to keep my favorites and desktop icons...

What's in the Application Data folder? It's hidden by default, maybe I shouldn't try copying it too. Plus, it might have different settings from the administrative/limited accounts, right?

I wouldn't bother with that. There are some settings that are user specific, such as path names that will also get copied to the wrong location. It is best to leave all the other folders alone, and just copy the contents of desktop, Favorites, and start menu (assuming you had a custom one, if not, then jsut leave it)

Alright, thanks. Another thing, when I opened Windows Media Player on the limited account, it had me set it up again and it wouldn't let me uncheck the file associations. I don't want Media Player to be the default player for most of the stuff. How do I change that in a limited account?

Well, I just use the open with command and then select the application I want and check the radio button for "Always use this program". Managing that with the different applications get tiring real quick.

Well that's one thing, but another example is the power schemes. I just got back from AFK on my limited account, and it was in standby. I go into the power schemes and try to tell it to never go on standby, but it says access is denied. How do I change that from the administrator account, for the limited account?
