Seperate SLI Settings for different User Accounts?

Ok here is something I need to know before I go ahead and buy a SLI board. I will be using this new system for 2 purposes. First and primarily for audio engineering and secondly for playing games :p

Now for my audio projects, I will need 4 monitors running. For game play I will want SLI enabled which limits the use of monitors to I believe only 1 or possibly 2?

Here's my question;

I want to create 2 different user accounts in WIN XP PRO for the 2 types of purposes. Will I be able to set the differnt driver settings for the different accounts and have them run indepent of one another or wil I have to remove the cover and take that golden finger bridge off/on every time I want to switch from one account to the other?

So in user account 1 -- Driver setting to be able to run all 4 monitors
user account 2 -- Driver setting to run in SLI mode

Is this possible???

Any help would be appreciated,

Larry

I,m not 100% sure, but I don't think this will be possible. To switch back and forth requires flipping the PCB selector card on the board and rebooting at a minimum.

Oh Damn, That really sucks. I don't suppose there is any way around this?

I suppose it wouldn't be all that diificult as I will have the system in an Antech 4 unit rackmouint case which will be sitting near by anyway, or perhaps I will need to re-think this out.

I'm also pretty certain you would have to remove the bridge and flip the SLI selector card everytime you wanted to switch. Unless there is a specific SLI option to allow for the different monitor setups (which I haven't seen yet, but I don't know about any boards that haven't been tested here).

The really suckey part is with two VGA cards installed, its practically impossible to reach the selector card as it lies between the two cards. I can't get my hand in between them. You will most likely have to pull the second card, just to get to the selector.

*edit*
I almost forgot, the one time I switched from single to dual and back to single. I had to clear CMOS using the onboard jumper each time I changed modes to get the bios to recognize the new config.

Me thinks you need to rethink!

Whoa that sounds way too complicated. I can't believe they would make it that difficult for users to switch back and forth. Perhaps I can just leave it in dual mode and get the best video card in slot 1 (suggestion here) and another not so bad in slot 2 just for the additional monitors support. Would there be any point in getting a SLI board then? Perhaps it still would be a good choice as getting a board with an AGP port and having to run an aditional card off a PCI slot would surely kill performance. What do you guys think?

I think this would work as long as you don't want the SLI capabilities. To enable SLI you must have two identical cards
