Good deal if you need one, this retails for $150, half price and you don't have to lug this beast home.

$150 - $50 instant rebate plus something for $.02 or more -$25 off $100 coupon = $75 + tax

Sounds like a hot deal. Is this a good quality safe? I've been looking for one to get, but in the picture it looks like the handle/combination is all plastic. Any use these sentry safes, or is an all steel safe better to get?

This is all metal with a 1hr @ 1700 F rated, don't think plastic, even bakelite, could withstand that. The brinks and higher end are all rated at two hrs but they are 4X the price.

I actually prefer the manual combo lock vs the electronic keypad on the more expensive models. I've been needing one and have looked around, believe me this is a good deal. It even has the hardware to bolt into the floor for added security.

I got in on this deal when Staples had it with a $40 rebate making it roughly 75 shipped with tax. I was hoping I could use OM to PM but the staples model was S0410. This model does have 3-4 interior hinges on the door for keys. I'm not sure how S0410 differs to S0407. Hope this can help.

This is a heavy safe, approx 80lb. Heavy because of it's bulk. It's good for it's price.

These are nice safe's but I did have one problem with them.

The Combination dial and handle are a pastic of some sort. I was moving the safe and one way or another the dial got knocked and it snaped the shaft flush with the safe. Needless to say that wasn't good. Tried reglueing it but that didn't work. Tried to use a screwdriver and estimate the numbers, that didn't work. Ended up having to cut the thing open.

So my bit of advice is to be very careful when moving it. Other than that they are nice safe's but my next one will have all metal construction.

In a fire, what would the internal temp reach? Would it melt CDR/DLTs? I'm guessing it might. I think papers would be safe in there, but not media... Anyone have info about it?

I have a 2 hour sentry fire safe.

Great for documents. BAD, BAD, BAD for things like CDR, photos, etc. Why? Because the technology that
makes the thing fire-safe, that keeps your stuff relatively cool for 2 hours while fire burns, ALSO raises
the humidity inside the safe DURING NORMAL OPERATION (i.e., when there isn't a fire). This humidity,
plus the fact that it's a chemical, and not even water, will corrode your stuff.

Pakaderm - I think they mean that paper will not burn. It would be impossible to determine if a plastic CDR will warp or melt, because it cannot be determined what the temp would be, and for how long. Anything that is really important, I would keep a copy of in another location.

I got the home/business safe from OM, and it's great to know my valuables are safe when I am gone. They have to be bolted to the floor or wall for extra protection.

I ordered this on Sunday, but I got an email today saying the safe is on backorder... But I got my $0.89 pen already. 🙂

Edit: Nevermind the email, it arrived today! All 85+ lbs!

Got mine too! Although it was dented pretty good on the corner :disgust: Had to return it.

Funny thing it, UPS tracking showed weight of this shipment as only 35 lbs. My UPS drive looked like he was having fun carrying all 87 lbs. of it up to my house 😀

Local OM gladly exchanged it for me last night.

Maybe I'll order one. It can't hurt anything, except the OM driver's back (hiking it up to my second floor condo) 🙂
