I ordered an Abit KT7 Raid and they sent me a KT7 instead. What luck.
Should I send it back and get the raid.
My question is, do you think it's better to buy the raid card seperatly or is onboard good enough.
Will I get better performance with a seperate card.
I'm dying to get my Thunerbird 1 Gig running and need advise fast

I paid for a KT7 Raid board, $159.00 from Step. I can RMA it no problem, but I'm thinking of getting the controller card seperate now
I'll have to wait until next week now if I send it back.
My 1 Gig Thunderbird is just sitting waiting.

If you paid for a RAID and didn't get a RAID and don't want the down time of an RMA, see if they can send you an IDE RAID card instead.

It would CLEARLY be to your benefit. When you upgrade the board, you can use the RAID card on the new board you get. RAID cards are WAY more vlexible than onboard RAID.

I think I'll try that. If they give me buff, I'm going to do alot of screaming.
I like your setup jonnyGURU
I'm thinking the same thing when I do change boards I could take the controller card with it.
I'm going to set up the KT7 tomorrow and see how it goes.
Some companies? can't read a big bold KT7 Raid order receipt, makes me wonder..

Well, I wouldn't completely blame them.

Abit, being the dumb asses they are, made NO EFFORT to label the boxes as to what boards are ATA100, RAID, or neither. Where I work, we actually shipped a whole case of RAID boards thinking they were regualar KT7s.

On the outside of the box, there was no difference between the two. Try telling a parts picker to look for the extra set of Aqua colored IDE controllers. :(

Your right about that, they do it to save printing.
All I can see is a white sticker that says KT7
A label on the top of the box would hace made more sense.

My last board from Abit was the LX6 and full of problems. in fact it shorted out for no reason, keyboard voltage problems, that was a while back so I figure to give them another try.
I have had good luck with Aopen and Gigabyte, not many tweaking features though.
My current system is an Athlon 700 Classic on a Gigabyte 7IX board in which is stable as all hell.
I always try a board company twice., but three strikes and your out.
I'm anxious to get the board up and running.

Heh, in my case I got the extra aqua IDE cables, but it was still a KT7 (which is what I ordered) Wonder how that happened.
