Try the HD 205's for $12 shipped: http://www.dakmart.com/product....php?products_id=11047

They're good performers for $70, but for $12 they're worth wearing in public. They have a slight emphasis on the bass notes, but they're pretty well balanced. They're only issue is that they are full-sized headphones with supra-aural ear-pads.
--EDIT--
I gave the wrong link. It's like $18 shipped at the Dakmart Store, but it's only $12.40 from Buy.com. I assumed that they would be the same for shipping, and them not being is wierd. So, sorry.

Proper link: http://www.buy.com/listing/sel...sp?sku=207561324&buy=1

It's the one on bottom.

I love asymmetrical cords. Can't understand why people don't like them (unless they try to wear the cord under their chin instead of behind their neck).

Asymmetrical cords:
1) soak up cord vibration by resting on your neck
2) lessen the pull on the plugs by resting the weight of the cord on your neck
3) allow you to take out your headphones at will without finding a place to put them (again, they just rest on your neck)
4) don't get caught up on things like hanging cords tend to do
5) don't carry sweat down to your player like a free-hanging cord can
etc., etc.

Personally, I can't think of a single negative to asymmetrical cords except the fact that they confuse people who've never used them before.

I hate these places with low prices for the search engine and sky high shipping. Sennheiser Hd205 show up as $4.98 at Dakmart, but $11.59 each to ship.

can't get into dakmart at all. are you guys able to?

it works now, got the earphones last night wanted to get the dj phones as well but site was out, hmm a hot deal within a hot deal i might as well include it into the title lol

thanks murphyslabrat

It just comes down to personal preference. Some people like em, some people don't. From the buy.com ad, it was not stated directly. Buyer beware, you'll just have to try them out yourself to know the difference in length, pull, hang, vibration etc. Anecdotes of one type of asymmetrical cord may not apply to all, depending on body size and product quality.
