The HD600s have been as low as $220 recently. Those are the headphones you want. They have been the gold standard for more than twenty years.

Likewise. Unfortunately my 600's are in sad shape now-need to replace the ear cushions and cable at a minimum, and should replace the headband cushion as well. Debating buying a whole new pair if they go on sale cheap enough again as Senn charges an arm and a leg for parts. I got hundreds of hours of bliss out of this set.

Fortunately I was able to wean myself off of headfi.org before I spent myself into the poorhouse.

Look on ebay for Sennh parts, OTOH you might be able to sell you worn out set for a good price and just buy the new ones.
