Yes, great set of cans.

Do remember folks that these headphones are 300 Ohm. Now what does that mean to you? It means you will need some sort of amplification to make them sound there best. Either a headphone amplifier, or run them from a quality sound card with onboard amplification (Creative, Philips, Audiotrak, HDA Mystique)

Also Compuplus has them for $145 plus shipping and has for a while, so here is another good source.

another vote for the 580's; combined with good headphone amp, these are great for music and gaming.

Here's a more indepth report on the cans.

And for anyone interested in more info on headphone amps here's more.

As was pointed out earlier, with the impediance of these cans you'll either need a strong sound card or headphone amp. I have one of the portable amps and constantly fighting my kids and wife for it, when they use their portable players. If you're a serious headphone user I think you'll notice and appreciate the difference that a headphone amp makes.

I've been using the HD580's for a long time now. 3 Years or so and I've been using them on my PC's audigy2 without an amp the whole time and they sound great.

Also remember, these are "open" phones; they will not block any sound, and anyone sitting around you will hear what you're listening to. Not good for work unless you have your own office.

But they have excellent sound.

I was just thinking tonight that my 580's were by far the best audio purchase I have ever made (out of easily >$10,000 spent).

Now all of us existing users just have to convince some newbies!

I'm happy with my Sony MDR-CD780. However, if I had money I probably would get something from Sennheiser($150-200). :)
