Add the item to your cart to see the real price of $69.99, then add $3.95 ecost.com "handling" fee and it's $73.94 shipped via UPS 3-7 day ground. Sennheiser currently has a $10 rebate for these cans, which ecost.com has linked on the page listed above. So the final total is:

$69.99 + $3.95 = $73.94 - $10 = $63.94 AMIR shipped.

Well ecost does have the PXC 250s for $90 which is sennheiser's noise-cancelling headphone. The sound quality is okay, but the 280 Pros are better. Keep in mind the 280 Pros are closed headphones, and give a good seal, which means if you have music on at a decent level you probably won't hear anything outside. Check out www.head-fi.org for more indepth info.

Ummmm the 280's ARE noise cancelling. They are studio monitors. (they are great BTW)

Also, I dont understand your comment, since most of the best quality headphones out there are NOT noise canceling.

I own a set of these. Used them on a flight from LA to Tampa just yesterday. Very comfortable and produce a good clean sound. Did notice that my friends expensive Bose cans have a bit more deep bass but his cost a lot more and didn't seem to block out as much backround noise. One drawback is even though they do fold up they are kind of bulky.

they are isolating, but not noise canceling. and noise canceling headphones from sony/panasonic etc do work well on place slike planes where low frequency noise can be canceled. it won't do much for high frequency noise though. and there aren't really any noise cancelling headphones that have really good sound quality, they spend all the money in the noise canceling portion apparently.

if your not on a plane or somewhere loud, its not really gonna help you.

btw, another deal, the sennheiser 497's are 47 bux - 5 dollar rebate at amazon:)

they are open headphones, meaning they are for home use. they have superior sound with the cost of leaking noise.

I don't need them for noise-cancelling. They're mainly going to be used at home.

Should I get this pair or something different considering these will be used mostly at home?

I have a pair of these, I pretty much use it all the time. I need one thats closed, but if I could use an open, I would definately choose a Grado SR-60 or SR-80 over the Sennheiser's.

the 497[s would be better for home then. generally open headphones have better sound. and in this case, its certainly true.
