Question:
Some reviews complain that they sit on the ears, not around them.
Does anybody know how the size of these earpieces compares to the earpieces of the HP 250? My HD250 is fine for me.
Thanks
my earlobes are rather on bigger side and the hd-497 sits on my earlobes. nonetheless, comfort is top notch. i never had any complaints about the ergonomics of these phones.
How do these compare to the Sennheiser HD580 / HD600 series? How about the Sennheiser PC150 gaming phones with boom mic? Grado SR60?
Less refined version of the above or do they have a totally different character?
Also, are the enthusiastic recommendations for gaming headphones or music and dvd playback?
i dont have any techincal information at hand, but hd-650 and hd-497 sound completely different to me. hd-650 is simply far superior in every aspect, there is no comparison; however, as noted above, this is roughly 1/9 of what i paid for my used hd-650+replacement cable. morever, you cant use the hd-650 for commuting or working out. with portable amps like sr-71 it can be somewhat luggable at best, but thats not saying much. hd-497s sound very good unamped, perfect for treadmills imo. just find some ingenieous way to manage the long detachable stock cable that comes bundled with the phones.
not completely sure what you are asking in your last question... in case you needed a recommendation for headphones with good bang for buck, i would suggest you to look for new/used pair of hd-580s with some decent amp (like a pimeta) and av-710, possibly an emu-0404 if your budget allows.
