Last year I bought the Sennheiser HD 280 PRO which looked the same the sound was very poor the foam on the head band kept coming off and after 6 months the wire that goes inside head piece broke leaving just one ear phone working and were replaced with a pair of Soul phones.
My first Sennheiser ear phones which were the cheapest model they made were great and lasted over 8 years.

I have a pair of HD-490's I purchased years ago at Comp-USA that are still going strong. Been "replaced" at least twice now but the replacements broke!

Not exactly true high-fidelity but they still do the job for gaming.

I'm not a fan of pleather type headphones because the material seems to crack and peel over time, leading to a bunch of tiny black flakes in and around your ears. I'd recommend taking a look at the Sennheiser 518 instead. Amazon currently has them for 40% off, too. Durable foam around the ears, comfortable, and sound great (though I'm no audiophile). I've had the previous generation, the 515, for 3 years now and they are still super solid.

I have owned a pair of 518s for maybe 10 years. Not entirely true, I have owned two over that time span. They are by far the best headphones ive ever used. They are extremely durable and the only reason I had to replace my first pair was from negligence (my sister ripped out the cord).

You should get them at that price. The above headphones are really just a terrific price for decent phones.

I've owned and continuously used a pair of Sennheiser 545s for almost 14 years. I've replaced the ear cups and headband cushion twice. Aside from that, they sound better and better. There is an argument to be made for quality, and you can find it in Sennheiser's line. Where this pair falls on the spectrum, however, is unclear.

I don't know, some of their cheap stuff isn't exactly what I would call quality. Like with any company they have their economy line, and of the cheap Sennheiser products I've bought I have found they are on par or even below quality of their competitors in the same price range. I have a pair of cx-150 ear buds I got on sale, and my dirt cheap Walmart skull candy buds blow them away in sound and build quality.
