Senior Page (High school yearbook)

aircooled

Lifer
So my ex-wife bought one of those "Senior Pages" in my daughters yearbook. I'm supposed to supply 75 words and 5 pictures.

Any of you youngsters have a high school yearbook with some examples of what other parents have written. I'm just trying to get a feel for the way parents usually write these things as it's not my strong point.

Just out of curiosity, how many bazillion dollars does a HS yearbook cost these days?

~5 years ago they were $100 from jostens or whoever that publisher was. probably depends on how many color pages etc. there are, and how many of these ads the yearbook committee sells

Use photoshop to make a bunch of pictures of you and her wearing super hero costumes while in epic poses and write about how she's the best damn sidekick a guy could ask for.

I just opened my yearbook - mind you its 10 years old, might be different now a days... Damn I'm old.

Copied the first 2 I found.

The time has come where we must let you fly on your own. Your Dad and I know that you will always make the right choices. You have always made us proud of all you have accomplished and how you have become so reponsible. We appreciate all the help you have given us with your siblings and someday they will also thank you for always being there for them. I know that, as your mother, I could have never wished for anything better. You are every mothere's dream child. And even if I don't say it enough, I love you more than life itself. I thank God everyday for you. Good luck for all you dream and remember what I always said, "All dreams come true as long as you try your best."

Words can't possibly describe how incredibly proud we are of you. As you prepare to graduate from high school and go off to college, we can see that you are indeed ready for this new, exciting phase of your life. You have exhibited such determination in each goal you have set for yourself. Your work ethic is to be admired whether in school or on the softball field. Its such a pleasure to watch you go about your life with such class, character, and compassion. Your hard work has paid off and your dream of competing at the collegiate level is coming true. You've earned it! You deserve it!

May God be with you as you go out and seek your place in the world. Remember always that we are here for you and will always have our love and support. Good-Luck at Blank University. Grandma would have been so proud.

Whatever you write, just make sure you don't try to sound too profound because when she opens it up years from now you'll end up sounding like a douche.

Thanks! This is the kind of thing I'm looking for if anyone else has their yearbook handy.

The ones I've seen are all like the ones mgnwfy found. Don't try to be funny because your daughter will be embarrassed when all her friends think what you wrote was stupid instead of funny.

Is there a local business that ever screwed you over? One alternate approach might be to have it say "Congratulations to all our Riverside High 2009 Graduates! Redeem this valuable coupon for a free <fill in the blank> at <Company name>."

Make it something that's worth, oh, around $100.

that's pretty awesome, lol.

Another vote for something to do with your cat.

Or get Nuclear Ned to write something up! You might have to buy a couple more pages though...

Never paid for a yearbook myself. They were something like $70. Every senior got one as part of their $50 "graduation fee", so I just waited and got it then.

As for what to write: Don't make it too mushy or sentimental or whatever. Keep it simple.

Write about the most fondest memory of you & your daugther together.....if not the ex will us this as an excuse for a fight.

All kinds of factors.
- How many pages
- How many color pages
- Ad revenue
- Cover features (inlayed photo, printed photo, custom design, standard design)
- Physical dimensions
- How many are sold (there are flat fees that don't depend on how many are printed, so the more you print the cheaper they are).
- How much the school subsidizes

I went to a very small school. We typically ordered 100 books. They were the smaller size (8x10 or so), ~120 pages, 16 color pages at the front for the senior section. Our flat service charge was $4000 for the book, plus $40 a book for printing. That works out to $80 a book, but the school subsidized a portion and we sold some ads, and that brought the price down to $40 a book for the students.

My college gave a yearbook to every student for free.

Mention how she was more-or-less a wallflower until her mom took her to get her tramp-stamp tattoo...now, she's the life of the party...and the boys all love her...just like her mom.

My school its about 400$ for the book and the cover
350$ for the book it self ...

I for one am not buying one
