senior ditch-day today [*UPDATE*]

During first period i get a memo saying that the seniors have all ditched today, and that we are to keep the students in class during recess.
of course they can walk around and have their snacks in the classroom ... considering the seniors class has skipped school and is likely to drive around the campus dangerously during this time

This is a small private school with about 60-70 people per grade level. I just find this really funny.
Im glad i dont teach during the period before recess, so i get to see potential drama unfold 😉


***UPDATE***

So the seniors did a honking drive-by with about 15 cars around 10:15, then again at 10:45, and again at 11:00 :roll:
Some were holding banners, others videotaped. Some threw eggs, and some had water balloons (according to one rumor, they were filled with beer)
My friend, that teaches them, had his car paintballed.

After all this was over, some of the cars still hung around the back of the school and just honked for another 30 minutes.

its an 8 minute break between periods 3 & 4
Lunch is after per 5
full day is 7 periods

wtf we had a 20 min brunch at least...

lol who cares if they ditch... what a stupid school. i remember i even went to 3rd period and then ditched at brunch as we walked off to the parking lot...
 
Oh, I thought you were talking about keeping them in during lunch. The 5 minutes is reserved for the students to get to class in time, it wasn't supposed to be a break, IIRC. If they're already in class, they might as well stay there.

I have chemistry with the sophomores and AP bio with the juniors.
Its one of the most interesting jobs i've had. Having to deal with a 100 different personalities a day keeps me on my toes.
Some students, especially the sophomores can get really frustrating at times, but i just imagine myself roundhousing them in the face and it makes things much better 😉

Oh yes they can. My old High School didnt try to stop people from leaving, then again there was 1000 students they had to stop, and if you knew how to get outside the building when the main exits are being watched, your out. The teachers didnt give a damn, the only people who really cared were the priciples and whatnot. Besides apparently today was a snow day 😉

Senior B: Go to the beach!
Senior C: Hold up a liquor store!

Yeah, I thought the point of ditching class was to not go to school.

These seniors suck. They should be seniors again next year.
 
I don't know why school administrators get their panties in a bunch trying to prevent senior skip day. It's a harmless tradition, ONE DAY in your 13+ years of primary and secondary education the majority of the class skips a day and does something fun. Who cares?!

SEriously, they suspended everyone at my school for doing this.

Its all about authority. It gives the adminstrators a boner.

I think they threatened some serious punishment at my school so it never happened.
