Ok, aside from using a huge list in the Bcc field, how can you send out emails to a mailing list? Would I have to put every address into an address book and then just put that address book name in the "To:" field (I'm using Outlook btw)? Also, would this send out let's say 100 individual emails? Or would it work like Bcc? Also, the recipient won't be able to see the other addresses that I sent it to right? And is there a way to save an address book (just like doing backups of your personal folder)? Perhaps there's another way to send out mail to a large list of recipients?

you could always use mailing list programs like majordomo, mailman, or listproc

as for the address book stuff, test it out. if it doesn't work, you can always just put the address book in the bcc field, that should work.

If you just put the addresses in the TO: field it would be like BCC except everybody would be able to see the other email addresses. BCC=Blind Carbon Copy, which allows you to hide the other email addresses. What you want is probably some sort of mass mailing program, that sends out separate emails to each recipient. Unfortunately I've never used any so I can't help you out any more than this.

Can't you just make a group which contains the recipients and in the 'to' field put the group name? OE has this so I imagine Outlook does too.

I will try something like that in Outlook. I prefer to use my actual addresses. So a couple questions now:

Can you save a group/address book in Outlook and then import it later (like with the Personal Folders)?

Will sending to a group name/address book name, will individual emails be sent out to all recipients?

If you use a group name in Outlook or OE, it will be converted into the individual addresses. How else can a system other than yours know where to forward the individual emails?

I understand that, but will the entire list be visible to recipients or only one address (theirs) or just the group name (as in Outlook converts everything internally)? And can it be backed up?

There are only 3 ways to send mail using the SMTP standard, regardless of how Outlook presents it to you:
a) mail to group = all members see all other members
b) BCC to group = all members see the one non-BCC address
c) individual e-mails = each person sees only themself

for (c) you can use the programs mentioned above or "mail merge" features in MS Office.
