And they asked me which powersupply I wanted. So I asked them if I could have the HX650 instead and they said no problem! I looked it up on Newegg and this unit is significantly better than the GS600 I bought.

Not bad Corsair, not bad...

My GS600 kept getting plagued with bad fans, bearings were shot no more than a week on both units!

Yeah, but its sad to say that I am probably going to stick to the Xigmatek 600watt I previously ordered if it performs well. I live in PA and I have to ship this heavy GS600 to California... I think someone will be getting a good deal on an HX650 unit here shortly :)

You don't state which Xigmatek you have, but I'm guessing it's a HEC.

I would keep the HX650, it's a Seasonic.

It is an HEC, and I just read more reviews saying that the ripple and noise is mediocre on the PSU but overall still not a bad unit. I think it will make a good spare unit though, don't you think?

I had Corsair advance ship me an HX650. I like the idea of the flat modular cable design. They even upgraded my shipping to 3 day. Very good company to deal with!!

Nice! By being so good with their customer support they really make me feel better when spending money in their direction. I bought GS800W and am using it with an GTX 560Ti. No problems so far.

Got the HX650W and slapped it in. As soon as I hit the switch, it sounded like I just flipped on an old CRT TV. Contacted Corsair and they told me that is not normal. (I have 2 other power supplies that do not have this issue) I am really getting tired of receiving defective units from Corsair.

Two noises come to mind when you mention CRT. The loud thump and fading hum of a degaussing coil, and the whine of the flyback at 15.734kHz. Which one is it? ;)

the whine of the flyback at 15.734kHz.

I think that is the one... its a high pitched whine that can only be heard when you turn your head straight onto the computer. If you look away to the side, you can't hear the noise. I removed the PSU and stopped the fan to hear the noise, and something is clearly wrong inside.

If SeaSonics all make some kind of coil whine, I don't want this power supply. I'd rather take a mediocre HEC unit that is silent then to deal with this thing. Im getting a brandnew replacement again from Corsair. This is the 4th unit. I will be putting it up for sale instead and buying a Delta manufactured Antec.

That does not sound normal. I went through some AX1200s that were horribly loud. If the GPUs were busy the supplies sounded like a hive of mad bees. When the system was off they would squeal with a very high frequency.

They were replaced and the replacements were quiet but had poor +3.3V under load.

I gave up on that model after that. Missed the fully modular feature. Antec HCP 1200s were the replacement. Very solid supply, no complaints whatsoever. Amazing quietness with a single 80mm fan!

Rubycon, I see you had a similar experience. I am in the same boat as you as I cannot take another chance with a Corsair power even though they have good quality units.

I can't stand coil whine and yes, when my video card, VRMs on mobo, and then the continuous noise of the PSU start spewing in the case, its unbearable. I can take a little coil whine, but there is definitely a threshold.

I ended up getting an Earthwatts EA-650 "delta branded" PSU. Its nothing fancy and I found that the Modular ribbon cables on the HX650 were more difficult for cable management anyways.
