sending a text message internationally, does it cost more?

Yes, but if they can get you for more money, why wouldn't they? Plus it probably does cost more to keep up the infrastructure to send data overseas.

I beleive Cingular charges 25 cents a message as opposed to 10 cents within the US.

the person who had my number before my received a freaking international text on their birthday and i got charged 15 cents.

Wrong, receiving is billed against your plan, if you have 200 a month included then it just comes out of there. Only time you get billed .15 is if you have pay-per-use.

With my carrier, Alltel, its the same as domestic texts, so if you have a unlimited plan, its unlimited international texting.
