He told associates that he has a two-step plan for exiting the party. First, he would send a letter to Sen. Chuck Schumer, the top Senate Democrat, removing himself from the Democratic leadership of the Senate. (He is vice chairman of the Senate Democrats’ policy and communications committee.) Manchin hopes that would send a signal. He would then wait and see if that move had any impact on the negotiations.

Ilhan is right about this

It's DOA without eliminating the filibuster.
That's why I said do the carveout for voting bill only, because it is a constitutional right.

Then hold the vote for all 3 bill in order

Voting rights
bi-partisan infrastructure
reconciliation infrastructure.

Maybe he can make his own party. The party of Manchin, since like Trump, all he really cares about is himself. Actually, I guess that makes him fit in well with McConnell, Graham, and the rest of the GOP.

What the hell is Omar blabbering about. His number from the beginning was 1.5T. Stubborn as he’s been, he hasn’t flip flopped his position.

I think her point is that one man is not willing to budge in the face of 98% of his party wanting more and him not willing to do jack shit about it like he is God.

The money doesn’t matter, it’s the policies that are enacted that matters and it’s clear manchin doesn’t care about the policies. He’s yet another do nothing politician.

Maybe that included the bi-partisan bill money. Wouldn't that add up to about 4T?
Not sure honestly. But coupled with the knowledge that he had ZERO FUCKING QUALMS (nary a peep or head shake of disagreement) about voting for a republican-driven tax cut that disproportionately benefitted wealthy Americans and was completely decoupled from.spending cuts belies his concern for the deficit.

Fuck him, he's full of shit.

Repubs wanna add $2T in deficit-addled tax cuts and not a word? And he votes for it? He gives zero fucks about the deficit.

The real issue with both Manchin and Sinema is not really the bottom line dollar value of the bill. It's always been obvious that the number the dems started with would have to come way down. The real issue which is threatening to kill the bill is that these two senators are refusing to accept certain portions of the bill regardless of price tag. This includes things like the entire clean energy portion of the bill (Manchin) and allowing Medicare to negotiate drug price (Sinema) and many other parts of the bill. To make matters worse, these demands do not overlap, meaning in order to accommodate both of them, there isn't going to be much of anything left.

Get rid of him. Write off WV and work on other states. The guy has no interest in representing his actual constituency. Get rid of him immediately because he's making the party look bad and will cost them votes in the long run.

We've got to hang on to everybody we can. Even the pieces of shit. I wish the Senate would just go bye bye. It's a fucking useless institution who's soul aim appears to be maintain the status quo at all costs, progress is dangerous you know.

Let's look at his daughter. She became a CEO of a pharma company and jacked up the price of the life saving drug EpiPen by many many times.

Not exactly a family that gives a shit about people.

I told you about this months ago, just like Colorado Senator Ben Nighthorse Campbell being screwed with by the Democrats decades ago and leaving the Democrap Party. Manchin doesn't have to put up with their fucking bullshit if he doesn't want to. I hope he takes Sen. Kristen Sinema when he goes.
