Senate aproved raising minimum wage to 7.25

Great, the senate just declared it was time for inflation. When will people get over the fantasy that the government can mandate a standard of living and that changing the minimum wage will do anything other than adjust the scales for a few months.

so here's a question

why is it that tons of people here on this forum are so against raising minimum wage but the people who vote it into law or whatever are for it? i'm sure they confer with experts on this kind of thing before deciding, right?

what makes atot members more qualified than the financial/economic experts the government uses?

Politics is not about facts. It's about getting people to vote for you.

doesn't matter, the House isn't going to go along with the tax breaks for small businesses

the two bills won't be reconciled for months

 the Dems are already eating their young

It's popular with the people - 80% of people are in favor of it. And it's popular with the democrats, because it helps poor people (yeah, it does - it may cause inflation, but not enough to completely nullify the increase in wages for those making the minimum wage).

It's not popular here, because most of us make more than minimum wage. Most of the rest of the country does too, but we're smarter.

People are starving because they are on min wage and can't feed their family of 4. This really needs to be fixed.

Congress votes for lots of potentially damaging "feel good" legislation that has little potential for positive effect on anyone.

Absolutely not. If you know anything about game theory, you can make yourself look very good in certain situations with strategic voting.

To bad history and the truth does not support that.

The last 2 wage hikes inflation did not go through the roof like orilley, rush, faux news, etc... said it would.

Yes, that's exactly what they do. Because most of us don't vote, and the ones that do mostly don't take the time to educate themselves. We look for what they want to hear, and don't look any deeper than the sound byte on the evening news. Which we're only watching until Idol comes on.

Do you really believe that in the long run MW actually affects the minimum standard of living of people?

Please note that they added 3.8 billion dollars for Tax breaks and now it must go back to the house, so it isnt passed yet.
