Sen. Tom Cotton Calls Slavery Nation's 'Necessary Evil' In Shocking Interview

Tom Cotton invokes the Dick Cheney defense- "Fake news! I never said that!"

Are you saying in order for the country to be successful it had to be built on the backs of free labor for which the former slaves were promised reparations that never happened? When slavery was ended slave owners were granted reparations but slaves were not.

Or was Tom Cotton just sending a not so subtle dog whistle to the Republican base? Tom Cotton is Ivy League educated, he knows how to construct a thought if he wanted to make clear he didn't excuse slavery.

IMO all of what I posted are true.

I'm not saying it.

I do however know how to read the article and he was quoting others who said the things that have you uptight.

Promised reparations?

Well we can thank the Democrat Andrew Johnson who overturned the Order in the fall of 1865.

Thanks Andy!

"As the founding fathers said" is him agreeing with the statement that it was a necessary evil.

And the Democrat Southern Conservative Andrew Johnson, among many other Southern Conservatives, fucked up the country to keep up systemic racism and wealth inequality, just like Southern Conservatives have been doing whether going by "Democrat" or "Republican', since 1619.

Thanks Southern Conservatives!

Well maybe he does agree with it, but that isn't what he said.

It must be your premise like I previously stated, an Ivy League educated Senator could not construct a sentence quoting someone without letting readers know he disagreed with the quote.

Nice work Gumby

So what if he does agree with it... Meh
It's historical fact.
Agree or disagree it won't change a thing.

Be scumfuck racist Senator.

Come out against teaching US history that is honest about how slavery was institutional in US history.

Also affirmatively agree that slavery was "a necessary evil" by fucking saying so.

Be scumfuck who defends the racist scumfuck Senator...meh.

Agree or disagree it won't change a thing.

It's a historical fact that this was the opinion of other 200+ years ago does not make it a historical fact. We can agree someone said it, but we don't agree it was necessary.

Cotton's playing to the R voter base hard here, and you're the type of person who just goes along with it cuz "R".

Slavery is no doubt evil. Capitalism exploiting cheap immigrant labor is also evil. But since it gives people a target for hate and reinforces their perspective of economical righteousness, 'Muricans don't care.

I didn't see where anyone said it wasn't evil. Did you?

The statement Cotton refers to says it's both necessary and evil. The word necessary simply tells us that even tho it's evil, we don't really care and it's going to happen anyways. It's the same way people who claim to follow a God of love can render such pain and suffering on other people for thousands of years.

Your tap dance is noted.

History dude. Those people are dead, long dead.

So I guess you're done here. You've offered nothing of substance, and apparently words are hard for you. No worries tho, there's help out there for you.

Like your profound words of wisdom: "words bruh" and "yawn, clean your glasses".
So enlightening!
