I want to see the overclocking results too, because@the price it is currently it's just not a good alternative to the 2800+ as you point out. I have been seeing 600mhz overclocks on the newer 2800+ so that Sempron will have to be a screamer to make it worthy, that or the price drop another $40 compared to the 2800+.

Another place already has the 3100+ sempron for $124 shipped, so I say after a 2-4 week period and the newness wears off, it should be in the $110-120 range.

I agree, $100-110 is about where it should be for retail. It just doesn't offer enough@this point to be priced so closely to what is a superior chip in the A64 2800+.

Missing nix and 64 is a pretty big hit too.. I agree $100-110...this price point will destroy mobile XP as option. (assuming it overclocks like the new newcastles do)

Highly improbable that any enthusiast can get a physically disabled feature on a Intel or AMD CPU to function given the tools/method that would be required. For example, People put in extensive time trying to enable HT with no success.

Actually the A64 is only $3.01 more for the retail box, $3.00 more for the OEM (not counting sales tax). I'd say the Sempron needs to be under $100 for me to contemplate buying one for some overclocking fun.

Then who would buy the other Semprons which are $70-110?
