maybe you mean one year?

A year ago they were mostly ECS deals. Now, Biostar, MSI and Gigabyte is what you see in the combo deals.

The ECS boards that Fry's used up until beginning of last year were much better quality than the boards Fry's had way back when the PCChips moniker was still being used.

ECS then got replaced by Biostar after the VP kickback scandal, but the combo deals with Biostar motherboards generally sucked for most of last year. By the time combo deals started getting good again Q4 2009, MSI had replaced Biostar as the bottom-rung brand, with Biostar combos still being offered to clear out existing inventory. Now it's basically MSI and Gigabyte. So Fry's took a hiatus much of last year from good deals, but came back with better combo boards.

waiting for one of those dual core athlon ii deals to pop back up. would be a great way to rejuvenate the sr1710nx.

and that deal is back today

as for the ECS boards, yes, they've been light on overclocking features, but it seems that since the k7s5a they've actually been fairly reliable.

These combo deals Fry's has had very recently are actually very good, to be quite honest. Most of them have historically sucked, but there have been a few good ones lately. I stand corrected.
