Edit- Did some reading and found out saluting isn't required, but became the norm after the great, great, GREAT! Reagan years.

I don't care if it's Bush or Obama, it's disrespect to give a half ass salute to the men and woman that serve this country. If your gonna half ass it don't do it at all.

I can guarantee you that when I was in the military literally the last thing I cared about was the presence or quality of the president's salute. Hell, when it comes to the navy and marines you aren't even supposed to salute uncovered to begin with.

They were traumatized by violence and psychological torture by authoritarian psychotic parents to fear death if they showed disrespect. In order to survive they became psychot themselves. They also became enforcers of, be sick like us or we will hate you. They have a need to relive these feelings by generating madness all around them. The vast majority of people in the military don't give a shit about any of this. They just want to go to work, get paid, and not get killed or sent on some pointless deployment. The quality of a president's salute? Who gives a shit.

Better to have return the salute rather than not doing so. When I was in the Navy it wasn't uncommon to receive a halfassed return salutes from a senior officer. Admirals were the worst.

To the OP, save your outrage for something worthwhile.
 
I dont remember seeing presidents walking around with cups of coffee. You're supposed to sit down and have coffee, not run around with it. Is he in that big a hurry to get to the golf course?
