i put "semi" because i don't have the $$$ for extreme edition that said please fill in the blank for me.

monitor: 1080p 27 inch mon samsung
cpu:_____ (i can wait 2 month for ivy bridge)
gpu:6970 crossfire (i can afford 7970 crossfire, but is there anything that stretches 6970 crossfire in 1080p?)
psu: 1000w cooler master silent pro
mobo: _____ (i'm thinking of rampage extreme 4)
windows: ocz vertex III max iops
storage: 3tb
ram: ______ (i can't afford 64gb since it's 1000usd but i can afford the 32gb which is around 300usd)
case: no case i'll do test bench for ln2

Get a single 7970 for high end 1080p.

That much power is not necessary at 1080p but if you said you can afford it might as well go for the best. I'd much rather do that then get XFire 6970 due to multi-GPU drawbacks

OP if you head on over to the general hardware forum there is a sticky thread you can coppy and paste. Without knowing what you want to do with the build then it is pretty pointless asking for advice on components.

CPUs

Basic workstation: i3-2100
Gaming: i5-2400 if not overclocking, i5-2500k if overclocking
Using programs that make use of lots of cores: i7-2600k

There really isn't a need to spend any more money unless you want the ULTIMATE in multicore performance.
