Let me make it simple for you CKG.... you live in Ankeny, Iowa you are conservative and the people that live around you are conservative. I live in Los Angeles, California and most people would call me liberal... the people around me are pretty liberal. I am willing to bet a lot of money that median income in your area is far below that in my area... I would be willing to bet that the average education levels in your area are far below education levels in my area. How smart / logical do you need to be to figure that out?

Nuff Said......

No, actually I'm quite sure that "people in my area" (especially here in Ankeny)would easily compete with LA in the "education" dept. Also, median "income" doesn't mean much when your grocery workers make $13-18(or more) per hour. Your cost of living is higher - which forces wages up.
Keep thinking that I live in a "conservative" area too😛 Well Ankeny by far is conservative but the DesMoines area as a whole is quite liberal.

Let me keep this simple for you Shux😉 Being "liberal" or "Conservative" has little correlation to "education" or "income"....unless you are willing to provide reputable case studies to back up such an assertion. We've had this "liberals are more educated" discussion before and it has yet to be "proven" or even backed up with real research. But I'm more than willing to take a look at any studies you can find to back up your assertions.🙂

What are y'all talking about? Everyone knows limousine liberals are all hypocrites. They posture for equal rights, oppose global warming and the war in Iraq, but they're riding around in their MBs, Jaguars, Lexus's etc., sucking down cafe lattes, and bragging about their French wine collection. Only conservatives are the real deal. A vote for Bush is a vote against the anti-American, caffe latte drinking, flag burning, Jane Fonda loving, Michael Moore saluting, queer kissing, cross-dressing, dope smuggling, Che Guevara honoring, abortion mongering, monkey faced sons and daughters of wild dog liberals.

🙂

I may have missed a few....

The most "built up", urbanized areas will always have the highest costs of living, because of demand for land/housing and limited supply, which translates to other costs as well. The most urbanized areas also usually tend to be politically liberal. So there is the answer.

Liberal is NOT synonymous with Democrat. Conservative is NOT synonymous with Republican. This is where the confusion keeps creeping in. Here's a map of GOP & Dem. strongholds. Some Dems are conservative, and some Reps are liberal, but ALL Dems favor more government, and all Reps favor business. That's what your choice is.

It doesn't matter whether a candidate is conservative or liberal, if they represent one party or the other, they will veto or pass issues depending on what their party favors. You can say issues aren't black & white, but the bottom line is, either a law passes or it doesn't. Seems pretty damned black & white to me!

In real estate, the prime concern for property value is LOCATION! The closer you can be to your job, shopping and main arteries, the better. When you have too many businesses & headquarters all concentrated in the same area, it's going to jack the price of living close to them.

The Urban Poor
  • Poverty in urban areas has been strongly linked to the economy and unemployment. The industrial job of past decades paid good money and required minimal educational levels of the workers. Those industries have left the cities and in many instances have left the country in search of cheaper labor. The loss of industry has led to high levels of unemployment in the big cities.

The manufacturing industries of today require technical skills that result from a post high school education. However, the high tech manufacturing jobs are not concentrated in the central city areas. Further, the people who command the technical jobs in the work place have created service jobs for other people to do the work that used to be done in the home. The service jobs are low wage jobs that generate groups of working poor people.

The people with the better jobs move to the suburbs leaving the poor people in the central cities. The migration to the suburbs has polarized the well-to-do people from the impoverished people. Then too, the migration has polarized white people from nonwhite people.

Left in the central cities are concentrations or pockets of people in poverty. The poverty areas in a metropolis is called a census tract and the poverty rate is 20% or more...
Guess who votes Democrat among these people? Like close to 100% of these urban poor!

So, you have millions of yuppies, crammed together like sardines, craving more mass transit, rent control laws, and city services, as well as hundreds of thousands of poor people looking for government hand outs, free health care & leniency for crimes. There's your Democrat's voters!
