First off, before I hear a WORD about how this is just an Inquirer article, READ IT before you criticize. Plus, they are frequently correct. Not to mention the fact that Kyle at [ H] is agreeing with them. So, with that being said, here's the link.
Personally, I'm only somewhat surprised. ATI HAD to know that nVidia was going to respond big to the 9x00 series' domination with their NV40, so unless they're idiots, they had to expect something big, and a 16x pipeline sounds just about right.
Most importantly, if nVidia doesn't take back the performance crown this time, it could REALLY lose some market share IMO. The biggest problem isn't that they have the fastest card out there (most people don't buy bleeding edge no matter what we think), but that they will probably be beat in the budget sector as well.
