Selling Wii - Buy a PS3?

My Wii is pending sale - on FS/FT forums if you want to buy it - mainly because I just don't play it. Rock Band and Scene It have taken over as the party games of choice and I'm not interested in using it for much else.

Anyway, with the cash I'll be getting for it, I can basically buy a PS3. I already own a 360. Normally I'd just take the cash and save it, but I figure I already spent it, and I don't miss the money now, so why not get a PS3? It would be like a trade more than a sale, I guess.

I'm not too interested in Blu-Ray since I have a large DVD collection and I dig movies "on demand", but I am interested in streaming media to my TV from my PC - I do it on my 360 now but I wonder if it is better/faster on the PS3. Also, I have a small collection of PS2 games, how easy is it to load game saves from my PS2 memory card and how is the software backwards compatibility? I can use the PS3 wireless controller to play PS2 games, right?

What/when is the next big exclusive game coming out for the system?

I have no friends who own a PS3.

PS3 fans - here's your chance - I'm on the fence - sell me on the PS3.

well why don't you go look at a list of current/future ps3 games, and if there are ones you want to play now/eventually, then get it. it's really not that hard of a decision and one that we can't make for you.

to load your ps2 saves from your memory c ard you need an adapter that you will basically use once to move saves from your ps2 memory card to the virtual ps2 mem card on the ps3 hard drive.

You'll also need a 80GB PS3 if you want to play PS2 games on it. Also note that there is only ~85% PS2 compatibility on the new 80GB PS3.

I jumped ship after 2 defective 360s. I love the PS3. I got the 80gb version so i can get some great games at good prices. The ability to go to a much much larger hard drive was awesome. I love the media capabilities along with the built in wi-fi. Playstation Network was a bonus for me. I never had gold Xbox live but have enjoyed playing COD4 online. The internet browser was a bonus for me.

you said it yourself "why not get a PS3" I don't have to sell anything to you you sold yourself.

Get one. The userbase is building up now faster than ever.

Oh, and the MGS series is worth any equipment.

+ the blu-ray part.

Quite a few good exclusives are coming out now, like you said the money is already spent, why not get it

It's too bad you don't want to rent blu-ray discs from Netflix, they really are better than upscaled DVD.

Go to SonyStyle.com, get a Chase/Sony Visa, and get $100 off the 80 GB. You'll get Motorstorm and PS2 BC.

You can play PS3 exclusives, most PS2 games, and have a console to keep you busy when you need to send your 360 off for repairs.

Well I think the PS3 is very well worth buying, there is Warhawk, Ratchet & Clank, Uncharted (which I would say is the PS3's killer app), Motorstorm and a few others and the incredible Metal Gear Solid 4 will be coming for it which if it lives to the quality standards set by Metal Gear Solid 3 then it will be an impressive remarkable game.

Well those are a few PS3 exclusives which might be tempting, there are also a few others like Resistance and Folklore, it all comes down to your personal taste in games, personally I see very little interest in the 360 mainly because I can get most of the 360's great games on Windows.

Definitely get the PS3. I just got the 80GB about three weeks ago and it is amazing. Love the backwards compatibility - I finally get to play all those PS2 games I missed because I didn't have a PS2 as well as play the new PS3 games coming out. Blu-Ray is obviously amazing as well. I also like the DLNA server capability since I can stream HD over my home network to my TV. I've yet to find anything bad about the PS3. The low failure rate is also a nice comfort. I have a hunch that the PS3 will be coming out on top in the next year or two once people realize that the Wii is a fad and has mostly kids games and people realize that getting an XBOX360 that doesn't die is a feat in itself.
