Selling my MOMS collection

They are not as popular as they once were. I had over 250. Got tired of them and gave them to the local hospital for the kids wing. Never have missed them.
 
This officially sucks, these dang things have sat in a box next to my media box for the past 20 some days... someone buy these things

uhh, how many of them are there for $180?? Didn't they originally sell for only a couple dollars each?

If I recall how the entire beanie baby craze went, the company only produced so many of each type, creating an artificial shortage.. they'd sell what could be made in China for a few cents each for a few bucks apiece, then people would go mad trying to collect every possible one... but the company made hundreds upon hundreds of different ones... It was marketting genius. They sold them for just the right price to make it a bargain to people who figured they could make a profit selling them to someone who was a collector, it kept the entire craze running for quite a while.

Except for beanie babies that are collectors items for other reasons (eg. garfield related beanie babies), they aren't worth much at all.. the average one is worth well under a dollar.
For $180, I'd expect that you're selling about 500 of them?
 
hrmmm seems like at the time comparible collections were going for 180 and up

(like collections of a 150 were going for 200 *escpecially ones with bears)

You're assuming that the beeyatch is telling the truth. It's equally plausible that she bought genuine beanies, and deliberately sent counterfeit's to the verification expert to get more money. Either way, she's a stupid beeyatch and should be banned from bidding on anything ever again. If Steven Kaye knows what's good for him, he will bring that point up if he is ever asked about it again. Also, without seeing the auction, it's impossible for us to know if he advertised it as "Genuine Beanie Babies" or "Beanie babies and crap my ex-wife left". He may not have misrepresented the goods.

BTW, a friend of mine has a daughter who used to collect Beanie Babies. She sold all of them 5 years ago for like $4000 or something like that.
 
Jeeesus, i wish i woulda sold these in the prime time trading frenzy

but they still have value.. just not the "frenzy" value
 
I just gave 150 of them to the Salvation Army.

Some were actually still worth something.

They were worth more to me as a donation.
 
Im really glad to hear that, im glad people like to make dontaions. Looks like i may be taking the same route.
