Do I understand correctly that all I need to do is reset the OS and then go into my MS account and deregister the device? Will that then allow the buyer to have a valid license to activate? This laptop came with Windows 10 installed however I don't remember if it was home that I paid to upgrade to Pro or it was Pro from the get go.

You better of contacting MS on line Reg. and ask them what to do. It really depends on how the original and upgrade type that were installed are.

Most laptops come with the laptop’s manufacturer version of Windows and they are usually transferable.

The story is different if it is full retail version that you bought on your own.

If you 'upgraded' to W11 from W10 you can't use the reset feature to go back to W10 after the default 10 or 15 day 'go back' period that is created during the Windows upgrade. After the 'go back' period has elapsed, those backed up OS files will be deleted. Resetting the PC will retain the present OS e.g. W11 but remove all user accounts, installed apps, and data. To go back to W10 you'd need to install W10 again.

No Win 11 as the I7-7820HK is not supported and I didn't want to do the work arounds on this particular device. I'll try to see if I can find out from MS.
