In my state of Nebraska a retailer is not allowed to sell below cost although many retailers have been doing it. (Its a direct violation of the state's fair pricing act. Since nobody has been prosecuted for it for several decades then its probably a mute point. I wonder if these bigger companies could still be sued by the state (for dumping underpriced product here) at a later time.
You're probably wondering why is dumping bad? It has a harmful affect on legitimate businesses trying to stay afloat. What is good for the customer in the short term is bad for the customer in the long term. Good businesses get unfairly squeezed out by shysters. The industry as a whole is sickened over these "good deals".
