OK so I have a co-op apartment for sale that is currently vacant. The apartment is being sold without furniture; however, I am keeping it furnished for staging purposes.
The furnishing includes a wall-mounted 32" TV. Due to the fact that I am not using it as a television, I want to take the 32" TV with me, but do not want to lose the "staging value" that it provides potential buyers. Since it is essentially a staging decoration I figure I could just replace it with a "fake" or "broken TV."
I'd rather not use a cardboard one like in some furniture stores.
I went to Best Buy, 2 Staples, Target, Raymour and Flannigans, Ikea and the only TV repair shops in town and either they only had cardboard TVs, the store's managers looked at me like I had six heads or they said they didn't have anything, nor did they know where to find any.
I googled/searched ebay and found some sites that sell "prop" TVs, but the cheapest seems to be ~$60+ (including shipping) (edit: and the only sites I found appear to be knockoff Chinese websites which do not appear to be too trustworthy, and if they are, could take a variable amount of time to get here) - I would ideally like to spend less(EDIT: /get something from a reputable source). Right now I am on the hunt for a broken, but aesthetically sound TV on Craigslist but am not coming up with much. Any ideas on how I can get/make/acquire, as cheaply as possibly, a 32"-42" dummy LCD TV? I'm located in Staten Island, NY...
I tried googling "making" one and came up with just one site, http://www.ehow.com/how_6007281_make-fake-tv.html , which is two pizzaboxes painted with plexiglass, which is not the look I am going for.
I know you guys and gals are top notch here.... Any ideas?
Thanks guys!
TL;DR where can I find a cheap and asthetically sound LCD/Plasma TV to use for staging an apartment for sale.
