Selling a dell laptop (2 weeks old) that has some downgrades

So anyway I bought a dell vostro 2510 day after thanks. It had the T9500 and a WXGA+ screen. My parents decided to give me my x-mas present early. It was a dell xps system. Anyway I found the components between my xps system and my vostro are compatable. I was able to swap the screen and processor.

So my question is this. I want to sell my vostro 2510. Considering that I've swapped components how will this effect the warranty transfer??? How will i be able to sell this considering the service tag (if looked at online) shows higher componenets then what's in the laptop????

List the exact specifications of what you're selling, that way buyer can't bitch.

I wouldn't touch it either. The only way I would do it is if I'm getting it from somebody I knew well and knew what was done to it.

Sell it as is but say that it does work and has a few upgrades (unless it doesn't boot).

You can't really advertise the warranty if you sell it with other parts. I sold an XPS that I upgraded to 4gb of RAM. In order to preserve his warranty, I included the original 2GB of RAM with the purchase. In your case, you can't really do that though.

You can maybe say that's it warrantied through yourself, but not very many people would be comfortable with that concept.

i don't know about warranty transfers, but dell has definitely honored my warranty after I've upgraded the ram, and chucked out the original ram. I just sent my d630 in for mobo replacement (faulty nvidia gpu), and they advised me to take my aftermarket ram out and send it in w/ no ram.


edit: screen etc. may be different, but imho only if the problem is with that component.
