Wtf if you want to sell your car, answer the freaking phone.

I've had the same trouble. I've called, left messages and emailed. I was looking for cars in the 8-10k range, particuarly nice fox body mustangs and turbo MR2s. I got about a 25% rate of response. It's ridiculous, and if you've already sold the car...REMOVE THE POSTING!

Well, a good portion of the people who post on craigslist are partially retarded. Then another good portion are foreign scams.

You basically have a 1 in 20 shot of talking to someone who isn't crazy or stupid.

I've been looking for a new beater lately and emailed around 15 people. I've had 1 person respond back and of coarse it is the car I was the least interested in.

And why can't people write a decent ad? I shouldn't have to email/call you to figure out the engine, trans, miles, rust, options, etc on the car. Most of the ads just say something like "95 civic runs good $2k call or email for more info". You aren't paying by the word so list some damn info in the ad.

It's Craigslist, not a professional service, so you can hardly expect the same level of satisfaction that you'd have if you went to a professional service, such as a used car dealer. That said, you're also paying significantly less than you would at a lot, and, as with most things in life, you get what you pay for. Why complain about a free service? The people who use it probably aren't going to be the most professional people on the planet; if they were, they probably wouldn't be posting their cars on Craigslist.

For real frustration try calling real estate agents about one of their listings and not getting an answer or a call back.
