Sellers: Advantages/Disadvantages of a PayPal account?

I have always shyed away from PayPal because it seems to get a bad reputation here. What exactly are the disadvantages as a seller to selling through PayPal? Advantages?

When I bought/sold online I almost exclusively used PayPal without issue. You just have to make sure you cover your ass and document everything. From what I've heard, though, I will avoid it for any future transactions. I know how easy it is to get scammed, I was just lucky in not having been.

How so? They send money, then you send product, then they complain and paypal takes money from your paypal account. No money in the account? Paypal will go after your checking account. No money in there? Paypal will freeze your account, your ebay account and send it to collections.

Unfortunately Paypal usually sides with the buyer.

thats for cc payments. you can do non cc paypal and no pay fees. plus you can have 2 accounts to accept both kinds of payments.

True but the problem is you can no longer specify non-cc Paypal. You must accept ALL forms of Paypal payments.

That, and on the personal accounts, theres a monthly maximum of 500, or around there.

But I can ask the buyer if he/she is going to pay with a credit card, and if so, adjust the price accordingly?

On ebay, you can't specify which types of PP payments you accept. You accept all or none.

On ebay, you can't specify which types of PP payments you accept. You accept all or none.
