Seller accepted my bid on their house! *NOW WITH MAP*

Maetryx here, 😎

Man, I've been working on this so long. The seller just accepted my offer on this house. It's got some issues, otherwise I couldn't afford it. Pretty darn exciting. Now just 2 or 3 million more loops to jump through and I'll be moving in.

[edit] AutoCAD map available here. You'll need the free AutoDesk Volo Viewer (or AutoCAD itself) to view the map. It's the borough tax assessor map. The lot is called TL-2813 and it's adjacent to the east edge of that big lot called MCBC 1. It's just north of the major bend in the Richardson Highway. [/edit]

Is the name of the street really... GO THATTA WAY... that's just silly....

Where i live you can't buy a house for less than 180... but i'm gonna start looking an hour out. I hate the 'burbs My mammy is a farmer and I want me some chickens 🙂

The payment's only $30/month more than my car payment...

Would be kind of fun to have a "Moose Creek" address.. 😀 (congrats!)

just make sure everything in the house is a-okay.. a teacher i knew was in the process of purchasing a house, and the buyer/realtor were in cahoots trying to hide "problems" with the house.. and the realtor was a friend of his bros.. good thing he found out before it was final..

congrats on the house.. wish i lived somewhere where it snowed during christmas..

I just bought one in Sept for $42k so I got you beat 😛. Mines only a 2br and 1 car hole though. Sometimes its nice living in a crappy state.

Now I just need the fix the leak in the roof RIGHT OVER MY COMPUTER that just started and the iffy looking rafters I noticed while putting a pot under the leak in the attic.

congrats

LMAO. Yeah that's the real address. It's actually on the corner of Go Thatta Way and Da Nephew Street, which is one block south of Da Niece Street

. But what are you gonna do?

As far as a LAN party goes, possibly in the partial basement. I haven't actually seen the inside of the house yet(!) but the housing market is so incredibly tight up here that I made the offer with the caveat that we approve of the inside when we see it. So anyway, it has a partial basement according to the tax assessor records that is something like 24 x 16 or 24 x 20 feet or something, I can't remember. It also has a two car garage, and we only have one car right now, so maybe that's a place. Shoot, it has 4 bedrooms, and I only get my son every other weekend. He'd be happy if his room doubled as a LAN party room if he could play too.

And yes, J3anyus, it's in the Eielson AFB school district, so it's right out there. It's only about 3 or 4 miles south of North Pole on the Richardson Highway. I checked it on the odometer to make sure I wasn't getting too far away from "civilization", ha ha!

1200 sq ft at $65,000? Thats a good price. Man, the cost of living in Alaska must be low. I wouldnt mind living there in that case 🙂

The cost of *housing* in MOOSE CREEK is low. The cost of living in Alaska is quite high. A good example is Taco Bell. There are NO 69 cent items at an Alaskan Taco Bell. Things start at 99 cents. Milk is $4.00 a gallon. Gasoline is like $1.60 a gallon (and we make the stuff :| ). Anyway, for whatever reason, possibly just the name, Moose Creek has lower prices than North Pole, which itself has lower prices than Fairbanks.

Congrats,

I have been thinking of moving to AK, I was wondering if you could tell me about the availability of broadband Internet access, need it for my work. Is the housing market tight every where or just in the Fairbanks area. Also what is the job market like in the IT industry?

Congrats guy....I've really enjoyed owning a house thus far.

One bit of advice, get a really, really, really good home inspector to check things out for you. This is crucial both in negotiation of closing and in avoiding stoke-inducing home repair headaches down the road.

My folks have a house for sale in Chugiak, about 25 miles outside of Anchorage. Three stories tall, sitting on 3.5 acres if I recall correctly.

Hey bud, Michaeld here. 😎

Congratulations, Mr. Homeowner! That's super news. Big house, that is way cool. I'd have to turn one room into "the server room"...even if it just had my PIII 550 sitting in the middle of the room.

Obviously, you like the cold, else you wouldn't have gone so far North. I'm glad that you are happy. You deserve it (methinks of 2,321 PMs of comiserating...)

Best of luck!

ps
If you haven't already done so, hire a certified home assessor (or whatever the terminology is) to inspect the home. It usually costs around $300, but is worth it's weight in gold, as the assessor/inspector is licensed and will give you a written, legally binding appraisal of the home. I.E. if he says nothing is wrong w/the foundation, and there is, he can be held legally liable. So you know these guys are good. Just a thought. 🙂
