Sell GM's stock people...Or Not?

The thing looks cheap and probably smells like it...

Interior shot

Or a Glamor shot

A bit better than an Aveo...

But comparing to an upcomming Ford Fiesta:

Ford Fiesta

I would rather buy Ford's Small Car...

Also, compare the two to Honda's Fit interior.
The Ford's design comes much closer to the offering by Honda IMO...

Edit: Based on the reaction, I decided to revise the title of my post as some people like the interior and they were pointing out that the Spark is going to be a very cheap car. I guess the real competitors of the Spark will be the Hyundai Accent Kia Rio, and Nissan Versa...

I noticed at the SJ auto show that most new cars had this sickly grey color interiors. Didn't matter if the manufacturers were domestic or foreign. Change the dash color of the GM car to a darker black and it'll look appealing right away. Dunno about the florescent green accents though. Those look shitty.

One website thinks this car will start around $11,500. The base price of the Honda Fit is about 30% more. These cars are really not selling to the same market.

This Chevy is ultra basic, ultra cheap transportation. The Honda Fit is pretty much the same price as the Civic -- it's just an option for people who want the utility of a little station wagon rather than a sedan.

so its another aveo?

You're really going to tell people to not to invest based on interiors? Toyota has been taking shits in their interiors IMO but i wouldn't tell people not to invest. Dashstrokers FTL. I'll wait till I see this interior in person though, although the sea of gray is a huge turnoff.

It'll be a subcompact, yes.

Yep, this is basically another Aveo, based on a Daewoo design. Should be a step forward, but it remains to be seen if it's enough of an improvement.

Nobody is going to really care about the interior design of this thing, so long as it's comfortable enough, gets good fuel economy, drives decently, and is cheap to buy. The Aveo was uncomfortable, got mediocre fuel economy, and drove like shit, so it only got 1 of 4 right.

For a car that will probable sell for less then 11k after deals I say it looks good. As others pointed out the Fit and other cars that are similar cost a lot more and will probable have less deals on them.

Yea it looks like a cheap car but hey, it is a cheap car. For a car to sell that low while meeting safety and polution standards is good.

^^ This. It just needs to drive decently, and be a noticeable step up from the Aveo, which I imagine it will be.

As many pointed out, this is made by Daewoo, as a successor of Matiz. It's tiny car, even smaller than Mini Cooper.

How tiny it is? It has 3,640 mm (143 in) length and 2,375 mm (93 in) wheelbase. Will have tiny engine, possibly as small as 0.8L. And as many mentioned, it will be cheap. I think it's pretty much only one in its class in US market, so it's hard to compare with other cars.

Is puke green the new black?

I like the car. I would never buy one, but It's not horrible (except the color).

I can't believe people still talk about interior looks and design on super cheap vehicles. They're super cheap because they cut corners and do anything they can to make the car more affordable.

If it has more comfortable seats than the Fit then it will be a huge seller. The Fit looks like a down syndrome child and has the worst seats in any vehicle I've ever sat in.

there's no way in hell it will be coming to the US with an 800cc engine. maybe in europe and elsewhere abroad?

Ya, probably. 800cc might be for Europe and Asia market. For US market, it'll be at least 1L. My point was to show how small the car is.

In fact, I am surprised that this will be in US market. Its predecessors were never considered to be even brought here, because they were too small. No, Daewoo Kalos (aka Chevy Aveo in US) is not its predecessor. Kalos (Aveo) and Matiz (Spark/Beat) are two different cars in different class.

What about the Chevy Cruze?

That is GMs Civic/Corolla. This is a very low price subcompact to replace the Aveo.

Anything would be an improvement to the Aveo, I drove one for 3 days and boy it sucked. If your buying domestic your money is much better spent on a late model low miles used mid sedan, there are always ton's of 'em available and all are way better than the Aveo..

Unfortunately, I doubt it would be that much better than Aveo.

IF (a big "if") Daewoo/GM managed a huge improvement over previous gen Matiz, it would be better than Kalos (again, Chevy Aveo). Otherwise, Kalos always has been better than Matiz.

BTW, I wouldn't pay $ 10k to Matiz, only because it has Chevy emblem. Matiz has always been 8 mil KRW ($ 5k USD now, $ 8k USD before currency crisis) car, the cheapest car available in Korea. And in Korea, every car is expensive, even Hyundai (Sonata = $ 30k USD, Genesis $ 50k, BMW 328i $ 60k, M3 $ 120k, all before currency crisis).

at least that's proven to escape corvettes within the confines of a mall 😀

Looks pretty nice considering its competition, but then again, I've never been impressed with the interior of ANY small car, including this one. I think it is good GM is selling this stateside. It is a good step up from the abortion that was Aveo. Maybe this will be a true replacement for the Metro? We can only hope. If they can keep a lid on the price, they may have a winner...

After reading all the bashing I did actually click on the pictures, it doesn't look all that horrible.
