Very reasonable. I always smack my forehead how much people start telling all kinds of unnecessary information to the police. Including information unintentionally given that only serves to strengthen the police's case and incriminate themselves. One bit of advice that will ALWAYS serve you and never fail you is dont talk to police. Dont say anything more than you need to. In this country that means you dont talk. You have a right to remain silent and anything more than that is too much.

I've seen plenty of false confession videos from footage taken inside the police station.
I've also seen a million episodes of Law and Order, so I know what to do :)

I'm sure it's much more difficult in the moment though.
A dead body in your house, you did it and you want to quickly tell police what happened to reduce any risk you will get harmed by police.

Blocked at work. Can you post it here?

– What to say on 911 call –
There has been a shooting at
(your current location).
I am armed and
waiting for the police
and an ambulance.
DO NOT give any other information about what you did.

What to say to the police:
My name is ___________________
I have a concealed firearm permit,
I invoke my right to remain silent
and will make a full statement
once I speak with my lawyer

..

"I fully intend to cooperate with your investigation, however I wish to remain silent until my lawyer is present.

Would you like some coffee?"

"I am armed and waiting for the police" Really? To me that sounds like "Hey cops, I'm armed and waiting for you. Be sure to roll up in the MRAP with 50cal turret. Ask questions later"

The idea is you want the cops to know you are armed so they don't shoot you. I would never say that over the phone.

Seems like very good advice. No matter how much you might be tempted to talk to the police and explain what happened, you should not tell them anything until you've consulted with a lawyer.

After the shooting, the suspect pulled out a card to remind himself what he was supposed to say, and then refused to answer simple, non-invasive questions for the reason of, his lawyer would later inform us, 'this is what the internet told him to do if he shot someone.'

Yep, that seems like a helpful thing to have noted about you.

Hell, I'd be surprised if a prosecutor didn't try to use that card as proof of intent.

Not as good as my plan of always having a baby around so I can put the gun in it's hand. Babies can't deny anything.

hell no, you don't say anything. PERIOD. lawyer up, then talk to your lawyer. that's it.

anything you say to the cop can (will) be used AGAINST YOU, not for you.

Where the fuck do you people think you live? You put democrats in office, this is what you get:
http://www.policestateusa.com/2014/california-v-richard-tom/

that's crazy. that can't possibly stand up to a 5A challenge. you have every right to not incriminate yourself. there is nothing that says you have to talk to police.

i have to imagine any half decent lawyer could get this overturned.
