A break barrel pellet rifle is going to be too hard for a kid to operate. Check with pyramidair.com, one of their reps via online chat for recommendations.

I still have one in the house I haven't used in all a long time with an old weaver 4X on it.

They are illegal in our county to fire.

Crossman 760's I thought were the thing in the day, I have a 2100 classic.

My memory might be failing a bit, I know Crossman sold a ton of the things at the time.

I'm sure they've changed over time, wouldn't know BB guns too well these days I guess.

Part of the reason haven't even shot my .223's and .357's in awhile, I have to drive down to Palmetto to do it.

*edit* My bad, were the 660's all over the place, had the short handle to pump with.

I think if it wasn't for the Crossman 760, my left arm wouldn't have gotten any exercise. I regret all of the small animal's lives I cut short with that thing. I shot bb's, pellets, sand, liquid mercury, home-made darts, and just about everything else that fit into it.

I grew up using a Daisy Red Ryder, worked pretty well. Not too hard to pump, fairly accurate, and ricochets don't hurt too much.
