Selecting good(and affordable) tile

I agree with the folks above saying to spend extra to get tile you really like. You're going to be looking at it for a long time. Also, look beyond the big box stores. The tile stores cost more but often carry a much larger selection of high quality tile. When we did our house, we stockpiled tile for months as we found the stuff we liked.

Also, look to the former Axis Powers for high quality tile. For some reason, the stuff we ended up buying came from Germany, Italy, Japan, and also Mexico. (Maybe there was something to the Zimmerman Telegram after all?)
