Eq2 here... will probably cancel my WoW account when I cant solo any longer cause the people there are by far the most annoying in any MMORPG I've ever seen.

It is a very serious problem with the game, the battlenet kiddies literally ruin the end game.

Join a good guild, turn off general chat, use /ignore if you really have to?

There are no good guilds The only guild that raids the molten core, an epic raid zone. works on a point system. You get points for going on raids and have to big on items.

So a person with a full time job like me has no prayer of ever getting items out of it. Not to mention the guild is loaded with OMGLOLOLOLOL!!!! people.

So enjoy what you can of the game. Honestly my best times in mmorpgs have been the lower levels when everything was new to me. And I've never come across or even heard of an elite guild that would accept '1337 d00dz', quite the opposite actually, elite guilds will tend to have some of the more mature people you'll find playing mmorpgs.

Hmm, WoW vs. EQ2 is 11.5-to-1, so if I ever decide to give up all free time for an MMO it seems pretty clear which one I should pick.

You are trusting a poll found in a forum dominated by WoW players. If you trust actual subscription numbers, WoW doesn't come close. The first EQ still has more subscribers than WoW has.

Old school Asheron's Call was great. I played the first 3 years. After that I tried many others, WoW is the best of the lot but I don't have time to play anymore.

EQ1 topped out at 450k accounts and dropped to 400k before WoW or EQ2 even came out, since it had gotten so bad. WoW has better than 750k accounts. You're flat-out wrong, as usual.

I was going by older numbers, where WoW was still only at around 350k subscribers. Of course, WoW is going to peak soon and decline just as fast as it rose, once more people get tired of their nonsense. They'll probably level out around FFXI numbers.

Of course, none can compare to the subscription base of Lineage or Lineage 2. Not even close.

Just saw an advertisement a day or two ago where Sony was touting the fact that they had 350k subscribers to EQ2. Looks like people are quitting in droves. :p

Lineage 1/2 subscriptions work differently, I don't recall the specifics but their numbers are misleading. It's something like pay-as-you-play or each character counts as an account.

World of Warcraft, first and only MMORPG.

Looks like I missed out on some really good games.

My roomate plays EQ2 and it just doesnt look like it plays any different from EQ1. I guy at work plays Wow and I have watched him play for a while and it seems like it is more fun than EQ2. It also seems easier to jump into for someone that has limited MMO experience. I have played FFXI for like a month, EQ1 for like 2 weeks, and Anarchy Online for a month.

Yeah but the numbers are so high that I think even if it was per character and not per subscriber, it'd still be on top.

Combine EQ1 and FFXI for something close to EQ2.
