Seinfeld vs. Friends?

OK, this question is absurd to me - Friends has always represented to me what was achingly wrong with network television while Seinfeld'd probably my 2nd favorite show behind the Simpsons. Yet first my new roommate, who I considered hip and intelligent, proclaimed that she loves Friends and dislikes Seinfeld then I asked around 10 other people the same question. Men tended to snicker at the question - "are you friggin' kidding me? Friends is total crap and Seinfeld's one of the best shows ever made - what a stupid question!" while women tended to waver from preferring Friends to hating Seinfeld. Now, this is not a scientific study but am I missing something?
 
No contest.. to even compare them is worthless, but there was a Seinfeld v. Friends poll in the past that Seinfeld won easily.
 
I watch both shows reruns most days.
Usually, when i watch tv after work or in the evening, i want something funny and mindless to laugh at.
Friends and Seinfeld both do that, although, i will say, all the seasons of seinfeld are great to me, but i don't like the first few seasons of Friends.
 
Not even close...Seinfeld every day of the week (about how often I still watch it, too). My wife feels the same way, but she's not a member so no female votes for you!
 
When I first started watching Friends, I didn't think it was that funny. Just a few cheap one liners. After watching a few episodes and getting to know the characters, I got sucked in. I watched all 265 episodes of so this summer, and it was amazing. I think Seinfeld is nothing but an average comedy... I've watched many episodes, and some were funny, but that was it. Friends was/is suspenseful, sad, hilarious... it had tons of stories and conflicts inside the show. I Think it was very well made and those that have watched more than a few random, confusing episodes would agree. I've watched maybe 30-40 Seinfeld episodes before I decided that I didn't like it that much. Don't bash a show because you caught the end of a old episode on TBS.
