Segway Human Transporter $4,950.00 (Pre-Order)

I hate those machine. I really thought that they should have come out with a hoover board. Now thats a hot deal.

I am sooo gay.

I really dont know why the first thread was locked. To some, this may actually be a deal. Or at least a heads up.

Anyway, these would be great for racing across Compton. At 3mph then you're sure to get through without a problem.

Hark! Do I smell an opportunity here? Sell helmets! Get enough of these babies into circulation, make the NHTSB happy by lobbying for helmet laws, and make a mint.

On second thought, Let those who ride decide.

Really different and cool. Can't wait til the copies come along from Asia. What's the max speed? I hope it's not 3mph.

These things are sweet! I live in the city of Atlanta and the cops and our ambassador force use these things. I see them rollin' around all the time. I don't know if it's worth 5k, but if you got money to burn, why not.

What!?! You actually get to see these things in the city.....cool! I had always heard talk of officers or postal workers using these, but didn't know that there was a city doing it yet. That's awesome!

Not a hot deal.. This will get locked soon 🙂

then why did you waste time posting here?

maybe this is a hot deal for those of us who do have $5000 and can afford this, did you think of that? this is the only place the Segway is available and therefore that makes this a hot deal for that reason, or at least a heads up for people who might want to preorder one. just because you and i are poor bastards who can't afford this doens't mean it's not a hot deal for someone,

end of rant

its has something like a 78v battery pack, can go like 13mph - but oddly enough they never tell you the battery life between charges....

doesn't that seem like an important detail? maybe i missed it, but i looked and did not find.

the load on a battery to move a 250lbs person is a lot....

btw: if given a choice between the segway and 5 - 19" lcds i think it would be an easy choice for me 😀

dew.

saw a cop scooting around the airport at O'Hare last time i was there - made me stop in my tracks and look...pretty awesome if i could afford one!!!!!🙂

Well, if you get it now you're an early adopter of new tech, with all the pitfalls that entails. That said, this is as hot a deal as you're gonna find on this, or the like, right now.

These things, or similar, will become much more common, especially in urban centers. It's not about replacing walking, it's about replacing the short drives when a car is a bad tool, but the only tool, we now have.

Anyway. I bet these things hit it pretty big in some much more crowded Asian cities.

Sounds like a good idea, till you reach your destination and try to bring the thing inside with you. Cause really, would you leave a $5000 Segway chained to a bicycle rack?

I saw where Amazon was going to be able to ship only 30 of them by christmas...just based on the press coverage, that should be easy...and those that want them quickly may end up paying a hefty premium (to those like the Ebay seller)
