Sega master system 2

Hi,

Does any one know how (or what parts are needed) to convert RF output to RCA A/V cable on a Sega master system 2 or any other conversion from RF to anything that would work on a modern TV.
Its a gift and I would like it to be ready to play when I give it to him.

Most modern TVs should still take an analogue RF signal. You'll need to tune your TV to channel 3 and it should work. Alternatively, you can also hook it up to an old VCR and it will convert the RF signal to RCA for you.

If you're handy at soldering, you can even mod the console for native composite video.

I'd just AV mod it.

Tap the audio and the composite baseband from the NTSC encoder (probably a Sony CXAxxxx or similar) before it goes into the RF modulator (the shielded metal box part with the RF port).

Very easy, just need some RCA jacks, a 75 ohm resister and 220 uF capacitor.

Looks like you can even do s-video.

I think I'm still going to have some issues though because I'm gadget and technology challenged so I can't solder or even figure out how put those parts mentioned together
It is a gift for my husband and he's the tech head but its a surprise.
If any one has any more ideas please let me know.

Don't they sell convertors (if the TV doesn't do it?) I actually don't know if modern TVs handle it or not, since they wouldn't need NTSC anymore...although there's analog cable, so... well anyway sooner or later it'll be an issue, but doesn't someone make an RF to something else convertor, the way you had like composite to RF convertors?

Current generation TVs still support analog broadcast, using slandered issue F connectors and coax cable, getting a master system working would be a non issue.

Converting RF signals to audio/video output is no simple task (it is essentially a tuner) and you can buy them off ebay, but they start at $90.

Hmm, we may end up needing those RF to HDMI devices going forward, if NTSC gets dumped from TVs :-/

I just play Master System games on my Genesis/Mega Drive Power Base Converter when I want composite AV.
