Got my DC today, and sadly, it looks used
Theres a nice, sorta big, scuff mark on the top.
Other then that, I guess it was an OK deal (no rebates to wait for)

So does this $50 rebate work if you bough the dc before June 4 2000?
If not do they have some other promotion we can use?

zepplin: No, the system would have to be purchased between June 04,2000 and August 31,2000 to be eligible for this rebate.

I don't know, however, how Sega is going to verify the purchase date, since they don't ask for a copy of the receipt !

If you haven't registered your Dreamcast yet, you can take a shot and see if you get it

You can probably try for the $200 rebate by signing-up for SegaNet for 2 years @ 21.95 per month ... but I am not sure if it's worth it !

Yeah, I was told the serial number was inside. The manual also mentions something about it being stored in memory.

Mine had a scratch on the controller, but everything else was perfect. The bundled browser CD and demo CD were really dusty though.

What's the format for a serial number? I think I found mine. It's 11 digits and starts with A1A and ends with A.

fr: The serial # on my Dreamcast is DUnnnnnnnnn (all n's are digits). I looked up the serial on my friend's DC and it was DUnnnnnnnnn ... so I am not sure if all of them start with DU. May be some other DC owner's can post their (masked) serial numbers here to see if there is any pattern ... otherwise go to a local toy store and look up the serial#'s on a couple of DCs to see if you see any pattern.

If it is of any relevance, my DC is manufactured in China whereas my friend's one is Japanese.

Thanks for the info. I took another look, but didn't find anything like that. Mine says "Made in China" on the back. Inside, there are different parts from Japan, China, Korea, and Taiwan. I found another number that's *JA********, but that's it.
