So is the Sega Genesis the first system to have online gaming?
It depends on how you define it. There were modems for the Atari 2600 even, so consoles had been able to communicate remotely for some time, but the Sega Channel was really the first integrated online console service(and I say service because it was designed around game delivery, not multiplayer gaming). The Dreamcast service was the first complete service in turn that included full multiplayer capabilities. Xbox Live will go down as the first truly popular and fully polished setup however.Originally posted by: AdamMT1618
