sega and namco officially merged

it appears Namco has officially confirmed the merger. Much as reported in the Nihon Keizai Shimbun, the deal will see the two companies merging during 2004, and will be used to strengthen both company?s presence. Its expected that the company will have sales around 350 billion yen a year ($3 billion USD).

so it seems official. at least it wasn't ea.

This is good and bad news. I really wanted Sega to build itself back up. At least we might see some sort of awesome bastard projects out of this... Tekken vs. Virtua Fighter anyone?

I don't know how they'll do it. Tekken is a lot slower game, I guess they could have a middle ground, if the characters acted like they do in their respective games the vf ones would school the tekken ones.

SNK and Capcom worked pretty well so they could probably make it work.
