Bill Gates needs to unretire and take over the oil companies. He's got a soul and a conscience.

The scary part is, this person is probably serious... influenced by his philanthropy and just clueless about how notorious he really is.

Edit: Holy crap... the one below it about the reinterpretation of gun laws is even more cluelessly hilarious.

A Microsoft (oh, sorry M$) basher. Give me a break. Bill Gates created and ran the largest and most successful software company in the world. Even at the end of his tenure, he has dedicated most of his efforts to the foundation with his wife Melinda. He will undoubtedly go down as one of the biggest philanthropists in history. Billions of dolars towards cancer, AIDS, education, polio, etc is not enough for you?

The monopoly days are over. Who would you prefer to run the oil companies? Steve Jobs? Why? Because he makes a cool MP3 player?

I'm not an MS basher. I'm saying he's a shewd business man. Look up some direct quotes leaked of him and Balmer when they get privately angry at the competition. They don't just aim to win, they intend to raze the competition in order to make a buck that they don't even need.

Monopolizing, or "near-monopolizing," the oil companies for cash is not a solution. Standard Oil? That's the skill/quality that they obviously think makes him suitable.

Well, if he did take over the oil companies, how long would it be before you'd be able to find pirated oil on the Bay?

Eh. I admire Bill Gates. He put IT in the media spotlight and without him IT would not be where it is today. He also seems like a decent human being. Yeah he's pretty ruthless in business but you don't become the biggest software company by being nice.

Personally I think Steve Jobs is more ruthless than Gates, especially to his own staff.

Gates also funds one of the largest non-profits ever to grace the earth. I also admire him, he built it all from nothing, he is ruthless, but that's why he is a great business man.
