Talk about a lost opportunity!!! I thought I could buy some GiftChecks from 800.com with this insane deal. Not anymore. Thanks MSN and 800.com for saving me some money that didn't need to be spent.

Wonder what happens to order placed when the deal was still on yesterday because, they don't bill until the order is shipped? So, by the time it's billed the deal is gone!! Hope the coding guys made sure to check for the order time and not billed time.

Anyway, time to look out for deals at B&M this weekend. BB's $310 deals on iPAQ 3765 can't be passed. It could get some money on Ebay once this thing gets hot or BB's deal expires in a week. Leanred from a sales guy at BB that they have too many iPAQs in stock and thinks there is no way they will go out of them even in weeks time.

Here's how the iPAQ 3765 deal goes:
BB's price: $399 after instant $100 off
10% coupon: - $40
MailInRebate: - $50

Final Price $310(Taxes will be on $360)

funny, i still see 800.com and can still go there from msn.

800.com is an affiliated store

Not all affiliated store participate in MSN holiday rebate program.

The safest method, imho, to verify is to watch out whether or not there is a pop up window that inform you MSN will rebate you some $$.

I did a little test with Google and pulled up the "cached" copy of MSN's original Holiday Promo list, which showed 800.com as a participant. As you know, clicking on links from the MSN site first brings up the banner box telling you about the rebates you will accrue. So, I clicked on the 800.com link in the Google Cached page. It brought me to 800.com's site, but NO BANNER. They've definitely swept this store off the list.

Strange thing is that I ordered on Friday night (when 800.com was still on the list). My order total was just over $400 with 2 items. This morning I get an email from msn thanking me for my purchase of $2.49 (the price of the small item I used to get me over $400). I hope the other $399.95 item is credited soon........ I want that $80!! ;)

I also went through the shoppin.net site for the extra 5% or $20 (It worked fine with my PhotoAlley purchase too) :)

Good Luck

How did you go through both MSN eShops and shoppin.net for the same purchase ?

I just chatted with MSN. I could not find out why 800.com was dropped but I was told to call 800.com and check on the status of my order. They don't open for another 15 minutes.

Does anyone know why this happened last year and how it worked out?

Tick tick tick - AAAHHHH TOO MUCH PRESSURE!!!

Ok, here's the scoop:
As of 12:00am Saturday morning, 800.com was taken off the list because they made their sale's quota for the MSN deal.
Damn, kinda pissed that I waited too long to move on a 800.com deal, but I guess if you snooze, you lose.

I just talked to 800.com too and got the same story, as of Friday night, they are no longer participating in the MSN deal. He said they had all kinds of problems with it. I happened to ask about my Gift Check from my previous order, wondering if it was shipped in the box with my order, and found they had no record of it! After doing some checking, they issued me a Gift Certificate and will be sending it out in First Class mail. Good thing I called!

Same thing happened last year with 800.com. I bought a 170 DVD player for 74 and a 3 way center channel for my surround sound system for 70, list 200. A week after I bought it, 800.com dropped out. I guess they do have quotas. I remember people were buying 32" WEGA Tv's for 700, until they sold out. Those were great deals because the rebates were instant.

I emailed them because I only got credit for $199 and I purchased over $300. This is their response:
"As part of the promotion, merchants report qualifying transactions to MSN at least 2 times per week. So far, 800.com has
only reported that you have made one transaction of $199.94. Depending on the date of your additional purchases, they may
not have been reported to us yet so you might want to check your purchase history at https://promo.eshop.msn.com in a few
days. You can also forward a copy of your email receipt from 800.com to us and we can ask 800.com to investigate why your
transaction was not reported."

Please note that the EBGames store at 800.com is not participating in the promotion. If your other purchases were from
EBGames, 800.com will not report those transactions to us. Please contact customer service at 800.com if you have
questions or want to confirm with them that they will be reporting your additional transactions to us by the end of the
promotion.

Thanks,
MSN Holiday Reward

Well this is just craptastic.

I ordered a new digital camera last night... was dammed happy too cause I got a $50 certificate and THOUGHT I was getting 60 bucks rebate from MSN.

I wake up and now I see this crap. Well I'm not gonna cancel my order but I sure as hell ain't happy.

**BITCH and WHINE mode*** :)
But in all fairness, shouldn't they notify people if they pulled out of the rebate deal? The rebate doesn't require you to click thru a merchant's banner so there was no way of knowing if it was still going on... and here I thought all I had to do was login to my passport while checking out.
** MODE OFF**

Well I did talk to 800.com's CS and MSN Rebate's CS.

800.com is basically saying they pulled the plug on Thursday night. I asked if my purchase would still count and they basically told me they have no way of knowing since they can't see my Passport. Whatever.
MSN says straight forward that my Saturday purchase will not count toward the rebate... craptastic.

I don't want to sound like a punk or anything, but from talking to MSN eshop promo Reps, they were saying that you gotta order through eshop and if you didn't see that MSN box pop up, it's partly your fault. I was going to order a Nikon Coolpix 995 from 800.com and my friend stopped me at the last second when he asked where's that pop up box, which got me thinking and helped me realized that 800.com isn't a qualifying store, so just keep your eyes open.

I believe that photalley.com has it for the same price and they now have it in stock.

From our friends at techbargins.com:
1) You must do the deal it with an American Express Blue credit card. We utilize its lowest price guarantee, so apply for one if you do not have one.

2) Microsoft is giving rebate checks for buying items from qualifying stores using their Passport. $20 rebate for Each $100 you spend up to a $100 max rebate. You need to check out using a Passport express purchase. The check will arrive early next year. It is wise to zero out your credit card # on Passport after buying..

Passports are digital wallets containing your address and credit card information tied to a hotmail address. You can create one when you checkout from one of these stores. Ends Dec 20. Last year it ended EARLY. Promo information.

3) Buy the Nikon 995 3.34 Mpixel 4x zoom digital camera from Photoalley for $799 shipped free. Checkout using the Microsoft .NET Passport option. You can create one if you need to. Of course use your Amex Blue card as the Passport's credit card number.

4) Using the Amex Low Price guarantee, PriceMatch the $799.99 you paid at Photoalley with this store: Regency Camera at $479 to get the maximum $250 PriceMatch back from American Express! (Do not order from this store, you will be sorry if you do.

Call 800-557-8317 to request a pricematch after you have made the purchase. Have a copy of your Photoalley confirmation, the Regency Camera web page printout ready. After you have filed an Amex pricematch request, you can now email them at amexclaims@awgais.com with the url and/or web pages of the lower prices or print them out and fax them at 800-858-5971.

5) Final cost $799 - $100 Nikon mail in rebate - $100 Passport rebate check from Microsoft - $250 Amex Pricematch = $349 shipped free!

I agree with culex. Many of us are not that experienced with this promotion, especially when 800.com was a rewards member prior to this weekend. With the sole exception of the popup menu, which is easily missed, there is no way for a consumer to know from the merchants site whether they are participating in the program. As I understand it one can click to the merchant from ANY MSN page, not just the rewards page to get the reward. I myself think there should be a different button reserved for merchants participaitng in the program. Just my 2c

I am sorry, but I do not see how anyone could not know which stores are participating in the promotion. MSN's description of the program was clear and accurate. The list of participating stores is right on the promotion page under the list entitled "PARTICIPATING STORES". MSN clearly states that not all stores were participating in the Holiday Reward promotion and the told you how to tell which ones were...

1. Start shopping at MSN eShop. All products from participating stores are eligible for the MSN Holiday Reward (listed at right). To find participating products while shopping on MSN look for the label Get your MSN Holiday Reward .

2. Use Passport Express Purchase
When you make a purchase at the store's site, you must click the Passport Express Purchase button. If you don't have a Passport wallet, you can get one on the spot -- it's easy and free. If you want to know more about Passport, click here.

3. Watch your reward grow
MSN will automatically track your purchases and send you email updates on the amount of your reward -- and how much more you need to spend to get another $20, up to a maximum of $100.

4. Get your reward
In January, MSN will send you an email with a link to a page where you can tell us where you'd like us to mail your reward. Then, MSN will send you a check!

There is nothing vague or misleading here and the rules are VERY clear. If that is not enough, MSN gives you an additional confirmation of a store's eligibility via the popup window. Anyone who misses or ignoes the MSN holiday popup or does not read the rules has no business shopping on the Internet or participating in online promotions. IMO - those who did not follow the program rules deserve nothing. Just my 2 cents

:)

When I placed my order for the JVC Home Theater System at 800.c0m, I got the MSN Popup, but the product was not listed as a Participating Product. It did not have the label "Get your MSN Holiday Reward" . I was worried about this, but went ahead with it and did get the MSN e-mail stating I got my Reward. So the rules are not so Cut and Dried on this one.

just a heads up, but this is actually a much better deal at ritzcamera than photoalley because it's $299 at ritz and comes with that "advantage package they offer", with some printer paper and stuff

FYI - The Get your MSN Holiday Reward label only applies to products that MSN has featured on

theirsite. If you shop at a participating merchant and start your shopping thorugh the promotions page as they state, every purchase that you make from the participating store is eligible for the MSN holiday rewards rebate

MSN clearly states all purchases at participating partners. The mention to look for "Get your MSN Holiday Reward" lable when you shop at their eshop.msn.com. If you notice here, all products from participating partners have this label. But most products sold by participating partners are not listed at eshop. For that, we had to go their site to buy it and still get the reward as long as they are in the LIST of participating partners.

Hope this helps.

If you read all of the thread, you would notice that it's mentioned that MSN eshop promo Reps are saying that 800.com got pulled as of 12:00am Saturday. I would just go with what MSN said because their the one's in charge of this promo.
