Are there any complete surveillance systems that include cameras and Android based software that I can purchase and self-install to monitor 2-4 interior house cameras from my Samsung Fascinate OS 2.3.5 wherever I am on the planet?

Thanks Pros and Experts!

OP, have you bought any cameras yet or are you starting from scratch?

Are you going to build a DVR computer or are you buying a stand-alone pre-built unit?

What I meant was are you building a DVR computer? This is usually a normal computer but loaded with some sort of DVR software. Can be Windows or Linux based. The alternative is a pre-built VCR/DVD player type unit that is usually Linux based?

You can get more flexibility with a normal computer based DVR but usually with a higher cost and probably with more complexity. A stand-alone unit is usually cheaper but perfectly serviceable.

The next question is, what type of wires do you want to run? Traditional CCTV cameras use coaxial cables for the signal and a separate line to deliver power. You can also get cameras that send the signal over an ethernet line which is much easier to run. And there are cameras that support PoE (power over ethernet) which will delivery power on the same ethernet line to the camera.

Next is what are you recording? Do you need a CCTV camera with infrared for night-time recording? What type of clarity do you need? Do you need PTZ (pan, tilt, zoom) functionality?
