I would really appreciate if anyone shed light on my video card problem.
I am using Windows 95, AMD K6-2 300 MHz, 64 MB RAM and Trident 9750 video card. I am not able to set 256 colors. When I do that, after rebooting my monitor goes small while and black cells. I need to go to Safe mode, default the video driver to VGA to get atleast 16 colors.

I downloaded latest driver from Trident web site. Even then my problem remains.

I would really apprecite if some video card experts show me the solution or point to any good self help web sites.

Advance thanks a lot for the help

Is This card AGP? and do you have the proper WIN95 version that supports AGP(or the USB supplement)? I have one of these cards at work in one of my shop computers and I noticed that it had the USB supplement on the CD. (Microsoft has long since pulled this driver from their site). Hope this helps.:)

The card is not too old to work at higher resolution. I still have one of these and a Trident 9850 for temporary use in PC's around the house. I recently put the 9750 in a 'modern' Via133A MB - it worked just fine after I setup the display drivers and monitor. I'm not sure what is your problem, but did want to let you know that the card should work fine once the video drivers are fixed up.

I have had problems like this when I didn't do a proper uninstall on an ATI card. I finally reinstalled windows95 (brute force method - I know) to clear out all the ATI stuff. Lark

ah, the good ol' days of the 9750.. heheeh.. I remember playing my friend in Return of the Jedi.. and he would blind me.. cept I wasn't suppose to be completely blind, only partially.. but the card can't do transparency.. and needless to say, my friend always kicked my butt :) Pointless post, yes, but oh well :)

You said that you downloaded the lastest drivers from the trident web site? My Jaton trident cards work best with the drivers from the Jaton web site. Was your trident card made by a specific manufacturer? Greg
