Seeking advice for rear, in-ceiling surround speakers.

Hey guys. My room is about 800 square feet worth of open-concept living room, dining, and kitchen. I have Polk Audio Monitor 70s for the front main channels and a matching Polk Audio CS2 for the center channel.

Due to the room layout and other constraints, the only feasible option for rear surrounds is in-ceiling speakers. Do these have to be actual "ceiling" speakers, or could I also use in-wall speakers mounted in the ceiling? There just doesn't seem to be much of a selection for ceiling-specific speakers.

What do you guys suggest? Thanks! 🙂

Edit:
So far, this looks like the winner: http://www.crutchfield.com/p_107RC80I/Polk-Audio-RC80i.html. I'm not an expert, by any means. Anyone else care to share their thoughts?

Should work fine. From personal experience with a 7.1 Denon receiver with rear speakers calibrated with Audyssey MultEQ XT, the rear speakers add very little to the listening experience.

My receiver (currently shipping) is a Denon AVR-X1000 with MultEQ XT. It's only 5.1, though. In my experience so far, rear channels do make a difference with the right movies...

Decent enough, and you get some directionality with the adjustable tweeter.

There are also models with an angled woofer, like this one from Monoprice.

Please note that 5.1 surrounds aren't rears but in fact sides, only *slightly* to the rear.

If you want something fancier and fully directional (given the limits of the mount), Gallo A'Divas are really quite good, though the price with ceiling rings is rather high.

Ah yes, thanks for the clarification. And these will be exactly that - surrounds in a 5.1 setup mainly next to the couch, only very slightly behind it.

I think I'll go for it. They're quite affordable and reviews seem to be decent.
